What are Options?

An Option is a financial instrument that is based upon the value of underlying assets such as stocks.

American Option gives the buyer (the owner or holder of the Option) the right to buy or sell the underlying asset at a specific strike price anytime before or on the expiration date while a European Option can only be exercised on the expiration date.
